Red Smith Youth Sports Grant
Since inception in 1965, our mission and purpose is to raise funds to help support local youth sports organizations. To this day, all proceeds from the Red Smith Sports Awards show continue to be distributed to local youth sports organizations, high school booster clubs, youth sports start up programs, special project grants, and team traveling grants. To date, we have donated more than $1,000,000 to our local youth sports groups and we look forward to continuing this time honored tradition for many years to come. This is an annual Grant distributing proceeds from the Red Smith Sports Awards show.

Scheels Gives Back Grant
Red Smith Sports Awards is proud to partner with Scheels Sporting Goods Store in Appleton on the Scheels Gives Back Grant. The Scheels Gives Back Grant is a $5,000 Grant to qualified and vetted causes in the request categories of:
- Equipment
- Facilities
- One-time event supporting Youth Sports programs in the Fox Valley area
In the past, funds from this Grant have been used to help upgrade playing fields in soccer and football, facility upgrades and new ice at the Appleton Family Ice Arena, new glass backboards in several Appleton area school gymnasiums, and mobile scoreboards for Special Olympics of the Fox Valley to name a few. This is an annual Grant sponsored by Scheels Sporting Goods Store in Appleton.

Red Smith Teammate Grant – Every Kid Plays
Red Smith Sports Awards is proud to partner with Scheels Sporting Goods Store in Appleton on the Red Smith Teammate Grant – Every Kid Plays Grant. The Red Smith Teammate Grant – Every Kid Plays is a NEW Grant that was launched in 2021 to assist our great youth sports organizations in providing scholarships for families that cannot afford the fees needed to play each season. The Red Smith Youth Sports Fund at the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region, in cooperation with Scheels, will also provide funds to support this exciting new program. This is an ongoing Grant throughout the year that organizations will apply for at the completion of their respective organizations registration process.
