The guest list is being finalized for the 48th Annual Red Smith Sports Award Banquet. The banquet will be held Tuesday night, January 15, 2013, at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, beginning at 6:30pm. This year's banquet features baseball Hall-of-Fame pitcher and former Appleton Foxes player, Goose Gossage, who will receive the Red Smith Award and be introduced by formerbaseball GM, and 1996 "Nice Guy" Award Winner, Roland Hemond. The Scheels Sports o'Nice Guy" Award winner is a long-time basketball executive and current Orlando Magic Senior Vice President, Pat Williams. The evening will end with the main speaker, Mark Murphy, Green bay Packers President and CEO, addressing a crowd of 1300 people. Also committing to attend the banquet will be the Milwaukee Brewers Assistant GM, Gord Ash. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers will be represented by President Rob Zeqav and Manager, Matt Erickson. Green Bay Gamblers Head Coach, Derek Lalonde will be in attendance, along with contingents from, The University of Wisconsin and UWGB. There are still tickets remaining for the banquet.
