Scholarship Winners 1986- 2005 – Red Smith Sports Awards

The banquet moved to the Paper Valley Hotel in 1987 and the tradition of awarding scholarships to outstanding student/athletes from Appleton high schools continued on. Two more changes occurred during this time. Valley Bank was acquired by M&I Bank and they agreed to continue the scholarships. In addition, a third Appleton public high schoool opened so the scholarship sponsors agreed to add a 5th scholarship.

In 1999 a sixth scholarship was added when the friends of Danny Ornstein decided to honor his memory with a scholarship recognizing exceptional contributions off the field in support of high school athletics.
