The program line-up for the 2016 Red Smith Sports Awards Banquet is shaping up. Sports figures from around the State of Wisconsin and beyond will be descending upon the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton for the January 19th festivities.
Being recognized at this year’s banquet is one of the best soccer players of all time, Kristine Lilly, she will receive the 2016 Scheels Sports “Nice Gal” Award. Stories of her Olympic and World Cup Championships will surely delight our audience.
The 2016 Red Smith Award will be presented to Packer great Dave Robinson. His Hall-of-Fame career, including victories in Super Bowl I and II will be honored as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the original battle between the NFL and AFL.
Clintonville native Mike Jirschele will provide insight on the 2015 Kansas City Royals journey to winning the 2015 World Series from his vantage point as their third base coach.
Green Bay Packer President Mark Murphy will talk about the Packer season and tell us what’s ahead for the Green and Gold.
All of this, plus interviews with the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, Gamblers and Timber rattlers will take place during their interviews with emcee, Dave Edwards.
