The Red Smith Sports Awards Committee is excited to announce that Milwaukee Bucks legend Sidney Moncrief will be the recipient of the 2020 Scheels Sports “Nice Guy” Award!
Moncrief was drafted fifth overall by the Bucks in 1979, and led the team to the NBA Playoffs in all 10 seasons he played in Milwaukee. He was a five time NBA All-Star, and made the NBA All-Defensive First Team every year from 1983-1986. He was the first ever recipient of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year honor in 1983, and also won the award in 1984. In 1990, he became just the fifth player in Bucks franchise history to have his number retired. Moncrief was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September!
